Just ASK?

Matthew

7:7, 8  Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:  For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Some will say that "asking" is something we do rather than something that God does, but we are not made righteous just by the act of asking.  It is because of God's forgiveness, not our asking, that our sins are forgiven.

Remember, it is God who prompts you to ask for help.  So when He does, don't resist, just ask!

"How shall a man be just with God? How shall the sinner be made righteous? It is only through Christ that we can be brought into harmony with God, with holiness; but how are we to come to Christ? Many are asking the same question as did the multitude on the Day of Pentecost, when, convicted of sin, they cried out, 'What shall we do?' "  Steps to Christ, page 23
